DVI Extender: Extends DVI Signals to Display Devices Placed Away from the Source
DVI Extender allows extension of the DVI-D display devices at a distance away from the computer monitor. Using these extenders it is much easier to connect the computer displays anywhere in the facility, or even to more than one monitor. This device also works as a regular DVI to video converter, which is perfect for broadcasting graphics. It provides an output resolution of 1600 x 1200 while retaining perfectly clear, crisp images. They consist of a sender and receiver unit, with the former placed next to the computer and the latter near the display. Connections between them are secured via Cat5e/Cat6 cables.
DVI Fiber Optic Extender on the other hand secures connections through fiber optic cables. Longer distance extensions are possible by using this version of the extender. Available in single link and dual link models, the former supports resolutions up to 1080p / 1920x1200 (WUXGA) and latter up to 2560x1600 (WQXGA+). These extension devices are preferred over the ones connected via category cables since fiber optic cables are resistant to RFI and EMI and are also secure. These devices also consist of two units which are housed in extremely compact DVI cable-type clamshell enclosures making them small form factor units allowing for easy connection and placement. Working on a methodology similar to the CAT5 DVI Extender, the two units convert the input DVI to optical light pulses for transmission over single mode or multi-mode fiber optic cable and then convert the light pulses into a DVI signal once again.
The CAT5 Extenders have the necessary CE, RoHS and FCC regulatory approvals and are compatible with all operating systems. Equipped with LEDs which indicate the DVI activity and operate at a video amplifier bandwidth of 1.65 GHz, these devices have a power adapter which are only required at the remote location. Easy to use and install, they are available in a point to point version as well as 2, 4 and 8 port splitter units.
The DVI Extender finds it use in a wide range of applications where the local image has to be displayed at one or more remote locations. Call centers, airports, financial institutions, restaurants, hospitals, digital signage applications, exhibitions, trade shows, military and government facilities are all making use of this extension device.
