Video Switch is a device that allows multiple video signal inputs to be switched between and viewed on a single (or many) video display screen while maintaining excellent video quality and providing crisp, clear images at high resolutions. Video switcher is available in many sizes including 2, 4, 8 and 16 inputs to a single output. Video matrix switcher includes similar number of inputs, but up to 16 outputs. A video router can also be cascaded or daisy-chained to increase the potential number of inputs you are able to distribute to your attached display monitor or project. There are many types of monitor switcher products on the market. Examples include VGA video switch which connects typical graphics adapters from a PC to a VGA monitor. DVI video switch will let you connect several DVI sources and switch between them on a single DVI display, such as an HDTV. HDMI is a newer connector type that transmits video and audio and the HDMI video switch gives you the benefit of switching between two audio/video sources. There are also older AB switch connection types that can be switched between using the component video switch, composite video switch or s-video switch. These all function in the same manner and let you choose which video input source will be viewed on your video display. Additionally, there is the video matrix switch, which allows a user to switch multiple inputs to multiple outputs and is available in several types including VGA, DVI, component video matrix switch (RCA plugs), composite video matrix switch (RCA or BNC) and s-video video matrix switch (4-pin miniDin).
